🎯 Session Review

Friday delivered a genuinely strange cocktail of news, and yet markets decided to drink it all down and ask for more. The S&P 500 climbed 0.62% to 7,757.64, the Nasdaq surged 1.30% to 26,690.62, and the Dow added a modest 0.28% to close at 54,036.93. Not bad for a session that opened with a jobs report nobody wanted to see.

The July nonfarm payrolls number was a gut punch. The U.S. economy shed 23,000 jobs last month, when analysts had penciled in a gain of 83,000. That is a miss of roughly 106,000 jobs in the wrong direction. The unemployment rate held at 4.2%, but the headline number is going to stick around in the conversation for a while.

And yet here we are, green across the board. The dollar index (DXY) slipped to 99.55, and the 10-year Treasury yield dipped slightly to 4.66%, suggesting bond markets are doing the math on what a weakening labor market might mean for rate policy down the road. Sometimes bad news is complicated news.

🚀 Key Catalysts

The real fireworks today came from earnings and corporate headlines. Airbnb (ABNB) shot up nearly 17% after posting a strong earnings beat, with CEO Brian Chesky doubling down on AI investment and crediting the technology for measurable improvements in attracting hosts and guests. When a consumer travel platform is talking about spending more on AI tokens as a growth strategy, you know the theme has fully arrived.

Doximity (DOCS) was another headline grabber, surging over 100% after a strong first quarter and a raised full-year revenue guidance. Analysts noted that AI search upside is not even baked into those forecasts yet, and the CEO hinted on the earnings call that it is generating real revenue. That kind of optionality tends to make investors very excited very fast.

Over in homebuilding, Dream Finders Homes (DFH) announced it will acquire Beazer Homes (BZH) for approximately 915 million dollars. It is a significant consolidation move in a housing sector that has been navigating elevated mortgage rates with varying degrees of success. The deal signals that some builders see more value in scale right now than in going it alone.

The $15 Gold Fund That Pays Up to $1,152/Month

Gold is hitting record highs, but most investors are leaving income on the table. A $15 fund is quietly paying out up to $1,152 a month to regular investors - no mining stocks, no options, no physical metal required. Chief Income Strategist Tim Plaehn calls it a breakthrough strategy that transforms gold's rally into reliable monthly payouts. The next distribution is just days away.

🎭 Investor Mood

Investor Pulse: Selectively Bullish
Today's market mood could best be described as selectively optimistic. Investors clearly decided to focus on the corporate earnings momentum rather than the ugly jobs print. That is a choice, and it says something about where attention is anchored right now: earnings season is doing heavy lifting.

The AI story continues to be the gravitational center of this market. Airbnb leaning into AI spending, Doximity surprising on AI-driven revenue, and even OpenAI making headlines by flagging potential critical cybersecurity risks in its upcoming Astra model. That last one is unusual and worth watching. OpenAI voluntarily pausing internal development to activate safety controls is not a typical Friday story.

Meanwhile, the mining sector got a political tailwind as President Trump hosted mining executives at the State Department, focusing on securing critical minerals for defense supply chains. Tickers like FCX, BHP, and MP are in that conversation. Bitcoin also continued its quiet comeback, nudging above 64,900 dollars, up about 1% on the day. Risk appetite is alive, even if it is being selective about where it shows up.

Forget SpaceX, Elon's M.A.G.I. Could Be Bigger

While everyone was distracted with the recent SpaceX IPO… Elon Musk quietly filed a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to protect what Jeff Brown believes will be his next breakthrough… Something he called "the greatest tech invention in history." because Elon is predicting this new AI breakthrough will unleash a $1 quadrillion new wealth wave.

💸 Bottom Line

Heading into next week, the jobs report is going to demand a response from policymakers. Losing 23,000 jobs in a month when the forecast called for gains of 83,000 is not a rounding error. Watch for commentary from Federal Reserve officials, as this data point will land squarely in the middle of any rate discussion.

The AI trade remains the engine of this market, and today proved it can drive individual stocks in dramatic fashion. Atlassian (TEAM) added nearly 38 dollars per share today, Twilio (TWLO) climbed over 48 dollars, and Oklo (OKLO) popped more than 6 dollars as the energy-for-AI infrastructure narrative keeps building. These are not small moves.

On the other side of the ledger, The Trade Desk (TTD) fell 3.87 and Sezzle (SEZL) dropped more than 60 dollars in a single session, a reminder that this market is rewarding winners and punishing disappointments with equal enthusiasm. The FDA advisory meeting planned for September on Grail's Galleri cancer screening test is also worth keeping on your radar. That story has legs.
