🎯 Session Review

Tuesday was a tale of two indexes. The Dow Jones jumped 529.85 points, or 1.02%, to close at 52,495.88, and the S&P 500 added 0.28% to 7,712.57. The Nasdaq basically shrugged, slipping 6.07 points to 26,424.82.

Netflix (NFLX) cast a shadow over growth names after issuing a weak fourth-quarter forecast as it tries to restart growth. Shares slipped $1.16 to $68.69. The message: streaming's hypergrowth chapter now needs a sequel, and the script is still in revisions.

Over in aviation, Boeing (BA) finally got FAA certification for the 737 Max 10, the largest model in its best-selling family. The jet was supposed to fly in 2020, so call this the most delayed flight in corporate history finally leaving the gate.

🚀 Key Catalysts

General Motors (GM) had a rough day, sliding $5.65 to $77.10 as a Michigan Republican candidate and the UAW teamed up to criticize the automaker. When politicians and labor unions agree on something, it is usually bad news for whoever they are pointing at.

Housing stayed stuck in the freezer. Pending home sales fell 7.3% in September and were down 11.3% from a year earlier, while housing starts dropped 4.56% to an annualized 859,000. With the 10-year Treasury at 5.12%, mortgage math remains brutal.

Deal chatter added spice. EQT is in advanced talks to buy testing firm Qiagen (QGEN), per Bloomberg, and Hilton (HLT) plans to move its listing from the NYSE to Nasdaq for more visibility. Abroad, Adidas raised its profit outlook on a U.S. tariff refund, while Carrefour trimmed guidance on French protests.

🎭 Investor Mood

Investor Pulse: Selective Shopping Mode
Today's tape felt like investors were shopping with a list rather than browsing. Money flowed toward old-economy names in the Dow and selected movers like 3M (MMM), up $9.43, and Braze (BRZE), up $15.53, while big growth stories like Netflix got a cooler reception.

The backdrop is not exactly relaxing. A 10-year yield above 5% and a 30-year at 5.43% keep pressure on valuations and on anyone hoping to buy a house. Still, yields eased slightly, the dollar index dipped to 101.73, and Bitcoin rose 0.81% to $82,514, so risk appetite has not packed its bags.

GE Aerospace (GE) falling $11.36 to $299.92 on the same day Boeing won approval shows the market is judging each company on its own merits. Selective, not scared.

Exposing Trump’s Secret Dollar Plan

President Trump is replacing the U.S. dollar. No vote. No Senate debate. Just executive order 1421, and most Americans have no idea. The last reset, under Nixon, minted 1,300 new millionaires a day and left others drowning in debt. This could be front page news on December 14. One core band of assets tied to Trump's plan could surge.

💸 Bottom Line

The big takeaway: this market is rewarding execution and punishing uncertainty. Adidas showed what a raised outlook can do, while Netflix showed how quickly a soft forecast deflates enthusiasm. Expect that pattern to continue as more companies report results.

Keep an eye on the consumer. Amazon (AMZN) announced plans to invest more than €16 billion, or about $18 billion, in Germany in 2027 across cloud, AI, satellite internet, and media, signaling long-term confidence. Meanwhile, Instacart (CART) settled a federal hiring probe for $5 million, a small cost but a reminder that regulators are watching labor practices.

Finally, housing deserves your attention. With pending sales down double digits year over year, the rate story is still the story. If yields keep drifting lower, rate-sensitive sectors could finally get a breather.
